Age 98, long-time resident of Walker, MN. Born March 7, 1915, passed away May 17, 2013.
Preceded in death by parents, (John) Albert and Julia; wife, Luella; brothers, Victor and Norman; and sister, Elin (Mrs. Marshall Alexander).
Survived by nephews Robert (“Tug”) Alexander and Victor Alexander (both of St Paul).
Born the third son of a Swedish-immigrant father and a first-generation American-born mother whose parents came from Austria, Charles graduated from Walker High School; worked for Ryan Aeronautical, San Diego, CA, 1940-46, as a lead man in the heat-treat department in the same plant that built Charles Lindberg’s plane, Spirit of St Louis, as Ryan Airlines; and, after returning to Walker, practiced barbering, while his wife, Luella, ran a beauty shop next door, retiring in 1983. He enjoyed all sports, participating in eight, including baseball, bowling, and golf. In baseball, he was picked by a major league team for an All-Star team at a baseball clinic in Mpls., two years in a row. Having learned to play pool at age 5, he once ran 85 consecutive shots in straight pool at age 14. He was happiest when he was fishing, partridge hunting, or traveling with his wife, Luella. He had many friends in Walker, around the U.S., and in Sweden.
