Maggie Lean Johnson

Funeral services for Maggie Lean Johnson age 87 of Malvern, Arkansas who died Thursday, May 9, 2013 in Mercy Health Center Hot Springs, Arkansas, will be held Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Greater New Hope Baptist Church Malvern, Arkansas with Rev. J. O. T. Lea, Pastor officiating. Burial will be in Perla Cemetery Malvern, AR

Maggie Lean Burks Johnson was born March 6, 1926 in Manning, Arkansas to the late Henry and Viola Burks. Maggie attended Manning High School and graduated in 1943.

Maggie joined Macedonia Baptist Church at an early age in Manning, Arkansas. On January 16, 1945 she married the late Joe Ollie Johnson, Sr. who predeceased her along with her parents and two children; Annie Ruth Burns and Willie Albert Johnson. After moving to Malvern, Maggie joined Greater New Hope Baptist Church and was a devoted member until her health began to fail. She was a Gold Star Member, an Usher, a member of the Missionary Society and a Sunday School Member.

Maggie was a devoted loving mother and a homemaker. She leaves to cherish her memories: Henry Cooksey of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Joe Ollie Johnson, Jr. of San Angelo, Texas; Johnny Lee Johnson, Kenneth (Annette) Johnson both of Malvern, Arkansas; Cora Mae Johnson of Hollywood, California; Bessie (Syd) Kinsey of Hot Springs, Arkansas; Patricia Ann Hill (Hollis) Ivory of Malvern, Arkansas; Janet Louise Johnson of Richmond, California; Joyce Marie Johnson, Mary Lynn Johnson both of Malvern, Arkansas; Jo-Ann Johnson of Hot Springs, Arkansas; two sisters: Christine Carson and Corene Hughes both of Malvern, Arkansas; one sister-in-law Hazel Burks of Malvern, Arkansas; thirty-six grandchildren a host of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews cousins and friends. a special friend Corredur Mae Vaden of Malvern, Arkansas.

Visitation will be Friday May 17, 2013 in the chapel of Brandon’s Mortuary from 6 PM until 7 PM.
