Green Island – William F. McNulty, 70, died on Wednesday, May 15, 2013, surrounded by his family, at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany. Born and raised in Green Island, son of the late William and Mildred Dower McNulty, he resided in Troy for 15 years before moving back to Green Island 25 years ago. Bill proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He had been employed as a telephone lineman for 25 years before starting his own company, Essential Communications, which he ran for 15 years before retiring. He was a lifelong communicant of the former St. Joseph’s Church in Green Island and a member of the Legnard-Curtin American Legion Post in Green Island. He is survived by his children, Matthew (Jennifer) McNulty of Green Island and Moira McNulty Philistin of Wynantskill; his grandchildren, Caitlyn McNulty, Joseph and Anya Philistin, Zachary, Sarah and Nicholas McNulty and Andrew Mahr; and his sisters, Kathryn McNulty, Midge (William) Harris, Mary Ellen (late Robert) Legnard, all of Green Island and Helen (Frank) Connally of Richfield, CT. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral from the McNulty Funeral Home, 147 Hudson Avenue, Green Island on Monday at 9:15 a.m. and at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Watervliet at 10:00 a.m. Interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Troy. Calling hours will be on Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
