Charles Anthony “Chuck” DeLucci of Lompoc left this life to be with his Lord Jesus on Sunday, May 12, 2013. Chuck was born on May 21, 1924, in Yonkers, New York to Michael Daniel DeLucci and Betty Pachowitz.
He served in the United States Army during World War II as a Sargent and was part of the Normandy invasion, where he earned the Bronze Star, Purple Heart and many other European Campaign Medals.
During Chuck’s time in the military, he met and married Sadie Lowe from Drill, Virginia. They were married in Elgon, Delaware on November 7, 1946.
After the war Chuck went to work for Grefco in Lompoc where he worked as a warehouse foreman for 40 years before retiring. Chuck was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. Chuck loved to fish and went on many long range fishing trips with his son and grandson. Chuck volunteered his time collecting food for the local food bank in the Lompoc Community.
He was a member of the Elks and the American Legion Post 211.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 67 years Sadie DeLucci; daughter and son-in-law Rose and Jack Satterfield of Goodyear, Arizona; daughter and son-in-law Debora and Steve Sterling of Applegate, California, son Charles DeLucci, Jr. of Auburn, California, nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Linda Loucks of Montgomery, Alabama.
Memorial contributions may be made to Bethany Lutheran Church, 135 South E Street, Lompoc, CA.
A graveside service will be held Friday, May 17, at 1:30 pm at Lompoc Cemetery and a memorial service will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church on Saturday, May 18, at 10:00 am.
