ANDERSON - Phillip Harold Barnette, Sr., 68, of 121 Nautical Way, died Monday, May 13, 2013 at the Rainey Hospice House.

Born October 30, 1944 in Anderson, he was the son of the late Harold O'Dell and Fay Phillips Barnette. He was a graduate of Anderson College and was a retired employee of the South Carolina Department of Revenue. Mr. Barnette was a lifelong member of Zion United Methodist Church where he held many leadership positions through the years. He was a member of the Zion Volunteer Fire Department and the Pendleton Masonic Lodge #34.

Survivors include his wife, Patsy of the home; sons, P. Harold Barnette, Jr. and wife, Julie of Charlotte, NC, and Anthony Dale Barnette and wife, Anna of Anderson; daughters, Phyllis Merck and husband, Gregg of Central, Sherri Rogers and husband, Casey of Port Orchard, Washington, and Charidee Bryant and husband, Mark of Townville; and eleven grandchildren, Connor, Erin, Jacob, Hannah, Gabby, Mikayla, Haddon, Hunter, Ella, Alex, and Ada Grace.

He was twice married, first to the late Nancy Sanders Barnette and was preceded in death by a brother, Dale Barnette and a sister, Beth Barnette.

Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery conducted by Dr. Shawn Armstrong. The family is at the residence and will receive friends at the cemetery following the service. Members of the Zion Volunteer Fire Department will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion United Methodist Church, 5708 Highway 187, Anderson, SC 29625 or the Zion Volunteer Fire Department, 5503 Hix Road, Anderson, SC 29625.
