Rocco Cristiano

Co-Owner of Bozzuto’s Candy Division

 

Mr. Rocco Cristiano, 80, of Waterbury passed away peacefully on Monday May 13, 2013.  He was the husband of Alma (DeNatale) Cristiano. 

 

Rocco was born in Calabria, Italy on September 11, 1932, son of the late Giuseppe and Grazia (Cutrupi) Cristiano.  He came to this country through Ellis Island at the age of 14 and later served as a member of the US Army during the Korean Conflict.  After his service, Rocco began working at Bozzuto’s Candy Division sweeping floors, eventually working his way up to co-ownership.  Rocco was known as a “Mr. Fix It” and enjoyed tinkering with machinery.  He enjoyed golf and spending time with his beloved grandchildren. 

 

Besides his wife Alma of 54 years, he leaves behind a son, Joseph Cristiano of Watertown; two daughters Carol and her husband Richard Heller of Wolcott and Grace and her husband William Martin of Plantsville; six grandchildren, Ryan Heller, Mark Heller, Erica Matzkevich, Andrea Heller, Joseph Cristiano and Rachel Cristiano; and three step-grandchildren, Kelly, Ashley and Lauren Martin; and several nieces and nephews.  Rocco was predeceased by his brother, John Christiano and a sister Angela Cristiano. 

 

The Cristiano family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff at the Village of East Farms – The Harbor for their compassion and exceptional care towards Rocco and his family. 

 

Arrangements: Funeral Thursday, May 16, 2013 9:00 a.m. from Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury to St. Lucy’s Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Burial with full military honors to follow at Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
