Harold J. Feasby, 94, of Van Wert, died at 11 a.m., Sunday at Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born on February 3, 1919, in Tully Township, the son of the late Willis K. and Othal (Foley) Feasby. On May 16, 1942, he married the former June Violet Gipe who preceded him in death on December 20, 2010. Also preceding him in death are a daughter in 1944; his step-mother, Myrtle (Baker) Feasby; two half-brothers, Paul and Jerry Feasby; a half-sister, Opal Marquardt; a brother-in-law, Robert Marquardt; and a sister-in-law, Jean Feasby. Family survivors include two half-sisters, Cleotha Hart and Donna (Leo) Martin, both of Monroeville, IN; two half-brothers, John (Glenna) Feasby of Fort Wayne and Wayne Feasby of Payne, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Sharon Feasby of Antwerp; and many nieces and nephews. Harold was a 1937 graduate of Convoy High School and a World War II veteran of the Army Air Corps. He retired in 1981 from Federal Mogul in Van Wert where he worked for 36 years. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Sebring, FL, American Legion Post #178 of Van Wert for 70 years, the Veterans Club of Federal Mogul and the National Horseshoe Pitchers Association. Services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, March 1, 2013, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Denny Feasby officiating. Burial will follow at Van Wert Woodland Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the combined honor guard of the American Legion and V.F.W. Posts of Van Wert. Calling will be one hour prior to the service on Friday. Preferred memorials are to the Van Wert American Legion Post #178.
