FLAG Daniel J. Gajda, 63, of Dwight passed away at his residence Saturday morning, May 4, 2013 with his loving family by his side. His funeral service will be 11:00 am, Sat. May 11, 2013 at Hager Memorial Home, Dwight with a one hour visitation prior to service. Family will receive friends on Friday, May 10, from 4:00-9:00 PM at the funeral home. The VFW Post #2608 and American Legion #486 will perform military rites following the service at the funeral home. Pastor Douglas A. Semenske, St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, Chicago will officiate. Cremation rites will follow the service. The family prefers memorials to be made in Daniel's name to the VFW Post #2608, Dwight. Daniel was born May 21, 1949 in Chicago to Edward & Lillian Godek Gajda. He married Frances M. Perkins on Sept. 27, 1975, at the Wayside Chapel in Palos Hills, Ill. Surviving is his wife of 37 years, Fran. Other survivors include: Daughters, Gina M. Gajda (Jason) Spandet, Pontiac, Ill; Michelle L.( Tim) Ogle, Beacher, Ill.; Nicole D. Glab, Dwight, Sons; George R. Gajda, Huron OH. and Jason E.(Lisa) Gajda, Dwight. Sisters, Maryanne (Timothy) Casey, Cedar Rapids, IA. and Joan Gajda, Darien, Il. 18 Grandchildren, one Great Grandchild and several Nieces & Nephews also survive. Daniel was affiliated with St. Andrew's Lutheran Church. He served his country in the United States Airforce as a Staff Sgt. during the Vietnam War. He was a tool and dye maker for Joslyn Manufacturing in Chicago, retiring after 27 years of service. He and his wife, Fran, owned and operated Triple Play Silkscreening in Dwight.
