Jane Alice (Willoughby) Shetzler

Jane Alice (Willoughby) Shetzler, 68, of Dover, DE passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 29, 2013 at her residence.

Born on April 27, 1945 in Wilmington, DE, she was the daughter of the late Alice Roberta (Chadwick) and Aaron Clarence Willoughby.

Jane was a graduate of Middletown High School, Class of 1963. She was retired from DuPont Company, where she dedicated 29 years of service as a credit/collection associate.

With a passion for helping others, Jane was a lifetime member of the Odessa Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and VFW Post 3792 Auxiliary. She was a dual member of Newark Chapter No. 10 and Victory Chapter No. 15 Order of the Eastern Star, as well as the Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America. As a lifelong member of St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, she devoted countless hours throughout her many years as an active member and was especially fond of serving on the altar guild. She enjoyed attending the Modern Maturity Center daily and visiting with her friends.

Jane touched the lives of others in immeasurable ways and will be dearly missed.

She leaves a legacy of fond memories to her two sons, Douglas Shetzler, Jr. and Thomas Shetzler and his wife, April; a brother, Robert A. Willoughby, Sr. and his wife, Dorothy; three grandchildren; a great-grandson; several nieces and nephews, as well as many dear friends.

Friends may visit from 6:00-8:00 pm on Sunday evening, May 5 at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home LLC, 212 N. Broad Street in Middletown, where an Eastern Star service will begin at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am on Monday, May 6 at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, 115 E. Green Street in Middletown. Interment will follow in Old St. Anne’s Cemetery.
