Avid UCONN Basketball Fan

Mr. Eugene Anthony Mastrangeli, 55, of 23 Prospect Avenue Norwalk, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Norwalk Hospital. He was formerly an eleven year resident of Watertown, having grown up and lived in Waterbury for many years.

Gene was born in Waterbury on September 15, 1957, son of the late Arthur P. and Dolores (Coccio) Mastrangeli Sr. He attended Oak Hill School Day Program for many years in Waterbury. He participated in Special Olympics competition for several years. He was an avid UCONN Husky basketball fan. Through the Community Service Program at Oak Hill School he helped deliver Meals on Wheels. He enjoyed attending Bingo and faithfully attending church with his mom. He took great pleasure in going out to eat.

He leaves two brothers, Paul A. Mastrangeli Sr. and his wife Jacqueline (Ariola) of Polk City, FL and Arthur P. Mastrangeli Jr. and his wife Marguerite (Hutchinson) of Bolton, CT, six nephews, Paul Mastrangeli Jr. of Rehoboth, MA, Michael Mastrangeli and his wife Luciane (Carvalho) of Manchester, CT, Eugene Mastrangeli of Clermont, FL, Joseph and William Mastrangeli both of Polk City FL, and Luciano “Luke” Mastrangeli of Bolton, CT, a great niece Scarlett Jane Mastrangeli of Manchester, CT, and many cousins and friends.

Arrangements: Funeral Saturday 10:00 a.m. from Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home 430 Chase Parkway Waterbury to Blessed Sacrament Church for a Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours Saturday from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
