Mae Helen Kimbrough, 67, of South Bend, Indiana, formerly of Elkhart, Indiana, departed this life on Friday, April 26, 2013, at 12:07 p.m. in Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. She was born on December 24, 1945 to the Union of Velver Sr. and Alice Dooley in Holly Springs, Arkansas.
Mae married Thomas B. Kimbrough on June 16, 1962 and remained life partners until his death. Mae worked at Vincent–Bach in Elkhart for 25 years. She was also a member of the UAW Local 364. Mae enjoyed road trips and spending time with family.
Mae is survived by one daughter, Nicole Kimbrough of Indianapolis; three sons: Thomas R. Kimbrough of Elkhart, Vincent Kimbrough (Josephine Brown-Kimbrough) of Elkhart, and Chad (Jennifer) Kimbrough of South Bend; four grandchildren: Amy Ruther, Ivan Kimbrough, Hannah Kimbrough and Maya Coleman; and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters: Alpha Mae (DeOtis) Gregory, Telitha Army, Queenester Lovelady, all of Elkhart; two brothers: Amos Dooley and Carl Dooley Sr., both of Elkhart.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Velver and Alice Dooley; brothers: Velver Dooley Jr., Willie Allen Dooley; and a sister, Glennis Arnold.
Funeral services for Mae Helen Kimbrough will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2013 in Clark-O’Neal Funeral Home Inc., 2702 Lincoln Way West, South Bend. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. and service at 12:00 noon. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
