U.S. Veteran

William "Bill" Edward Taylor passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at the age of 93. 

Bill was the first son of Marshall and Brooksie Taylor who preceded him in death. His brother Charles also preceded him in death.

Bill joined the U.S. Army in June 1944. He also served in the U.S. Air Force where he retired from in December 1970. He served in Europe, Asia and Vietnam. After retiring from the military he worked for the U. S. Post Office.

In April of 1971 he joined Second Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of S.H. James where he served on the Men's Usher Board until his health failed him.

Bill is survived by his wife, Doris, daughter Jacqueline T. Henderson, granddaughter Adrienne M. Henderson, stepson Hilliard Floyd and a host of relatives and friends.

Visitation is scheduled for Monday, April 29, 2013 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. from Lewis Funeral Home, 811 South W.W. White Rd. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, April 30, 2013 beginning at 11:30 A.M. from Second Baptist Church, 3310 East Commerce Street. Rev. Dr. R.L. Jemerson to officiate. Interment will follow in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
