John J. Bailey of Nanuet, NY formerly of the South Bronx 138th Street, died Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Montrose Veterans Hospital. He was 84. Mr. Bailey was a police officer with the NYPD for 24 years before retiring in 1982. John was born September 10, 1928 in Masontown, PA to Joseph and Kathryn Bailey. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War from 1950 to 1956. John lived in Nanuet for the past 53 years and was a parishioner of St. Aedan’s R. C. Church. He is survived by his sons; Michael and Marie of Blauvelt, NY, Steven and Mary of Cummings, GA and Paul and Dava of Blauvelt, NY; grandchildren, Kathryn, Brittany, Sean, Kyle and Ryan Bailey and sisters, Josephine Hart of MA and Sylvia Bailey of NJ. He is predeceased by his wife, Caroline E. Bailey (2007), son, John J. Bailey Jr. (2004), granddaughter, Jessica Morgan Bailey (1999) and daughter-in-law Kimberly Bailey (1999). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10: 00AM Thursday at St. Aedan’s R. C. Church, Pearl River. Burial will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Nanuet. Visiting is Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home Inc. Friends may send memorial donations to the Wounded Warrior Project.
