Norma F. McCollum, 82, of Clarence, MO, passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2013, at Samaritan Hospital in Macon, MO.
She was born on May 14, 1930, in North Hollywood, CA, the daughter of Russell Ralph and Dorothy (Schmorlietz) Benton. Norma was united in marriage to Robert McCollum at the Clarence United Methodist Church in Clarence, MO, on July 23, 1950. She was a member of the Clarence United Methodist Church, Charter member of the Federated Women’s Club, Boy Scout Den Mother, Eastern Star member, and enjoyed reading, attending her grandchildren’s activities, helping her husband in fund raising business to help groups and organizations across the area. Norma loved and cherished her family.
She is survived by her husband, Robert of the home, her four children; Robert Lane McCollum, Jr. and wife Marsha of Macon, MO, Russell Mark McCollum and wife Valerie of Arnold, MO, Joel Scott McCollum and wife Karon of Dubai of UAE and Deana Leigh Quinly and husband Pat of Macon, MO; seven grandchildren, Robyn Oldfield and husband Eric of Locust Grove, GA, Anna McCollum of Ballwin, MO, Mark McCollum and wife Lindsey of St. Peters, MO, John McCollum of Arnold, MO, David McCollum of Arnold, MO, Joey Harrison and wife Heidi of Springfield, IL, Jaclyn Caldwell and husband Paul of Columbia, MO, and one step- granddaughter, Kim Lentz of Ft. Knox, KY, and great-grandchildren Jonah and Josiah Oldfield, and two step-great-grandsons , Monty Lentz and Dylan Coffelt ,one sister Marilyn Hope Avis of Warrenton MO, and several nieces and nephews.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents and brother–in-law Homer Avis as well as many other brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws.
Funeral services will be Friday May 3, 2013, at 10:00 am at the Clarence Methodist Church with Pastor Delbert Earlywine officiating. Burial will be in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, MO. Visitation will be Thursday evening at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Clarence from 5pm to 8 pm. Memorials are suggested to the Methodist Church Organ Fund or the Helping Hand of Clarence.
