QUEENSBURY --- On April 21st, 2013 Stan moved into his Eternal Home with Christ in Heaven. Born on December 30, 1924 he was the son of Hazel (Bradway) Batease and Darrel R. Batease. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one daughter Sue Ann. He spent 2 and a half years in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Veronica Dunkley on March 23, 1945. They just celebrated 68 years together. Together they owned and operated Batease’s Woodworking for more than 45 years. He was also a retired mail carrier. He loved restoring and showing his antique cars. Most of all he loved going out into “the shop” and having his friends stop in to talk by the hour. He was one of the original members of The Community Chapel of West Glens Falls where held many offices over the years. Currently he and his wife were attending Redeemer Reformed Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Veronica, one brother Floyd (Margaret) Batease, one daughter Connie (Fred) Quackenbush, one son Brian (Kelle) Batease, grandchildren Michelle Higgins, Richard Quackenbush, Alec Batease, Joshua Batease and Johnathon and Brian Baker – as well as 4 great-grandchildren and a large extended family. The following is a poem that one of his shipmates recently sent him. No man knows the hour of his ending Nor can he choose the place or manner of his going. To each it is given to die proudly, to die well And this is indeed the final measure of the man. -Louis L’Amor A special thanks to our neighbors David Colvin and the Rozelle’s for taking care of us during the past year.
