Joseph Mulholland

Joseph R. Mulholland, age 86 of Amesville died Saturday morning, April 20, 2013 at Arcadia Valley Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Coolville.

Born Sept. 29, 1926 in Charleston, WV, he was the son of the late Joseph R. Mulholland, Sr. and Ruth Thomas Mulholland.

Joe was a design engineer with Union Carbide and Ionics, Inc. He was a former resident of St. Albans, WV and Massachusetts while working and retired in 1988 to Amesville. He was a graduate of Charleston H.S. and attended Ohio State University. He was a former member and usher of St. Francis Catholic Church in St. Albans and the Holy Name Society. He is currently a member of Christ the King University Parish. He enjoyed and was an avid sports fan, especially Ohio State sporting events. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving with Army Ordnance in instrument work.

Joe is survived by his wife of 60 years, Audrey LaVelle Mulholland; two daughters- Jayne (Mark Hammerschmidt) Mulholland of Marlboro, Mass. and Jennifer (Richard) Matranga of Monroe, Conn.; a son, Jeff (Julie Shaffer) Mulholland of Merrimac, Mass.; twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Besides his parents he is preceded in death by a son, John Mulholland and a sister, Mary Eleanor Kahle.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday 10:00 am at Christ the King University Parish, Stewart and Mill Streets, Athens with Father Mark Moore as celebrant. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Athens. Friends may call Tuesday 5-7 pm at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens.

Vigil for the Deceased will be Tuesday at 7:00 pm at the funeral home.

Military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by K. T. Crossen Post 21 American Legion, VFW Post 7174 and VFW Post 9893 Honor Guards.
