Paul Richard Durrence

Paul Richard Durrence, 66, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2013 at 8:30 pm at the Krankenhaus Nordwest in Frankfurt, Germany. He was born on January 20, 1947 in Reidsville, Georgia to Kellis and Estelle Durrence. Paul married, and is survived by, his loving wife Audrianne Larsen on December 28, 1970 in the Logan LDS Temple. They celebrated their 42nd anniversary in December. Paul was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Paul is also survived by two sons, Ryan (Maria)Durrence of Vernal, Utah and Benjamin Durrence of Salt Lake City, and two daughters, Stephanie (Tyler) Adam of Hastings, Nebraska, and Bryanne (Ben) Schmitt of Omaha, Nebraska. He is also survived by two sisters Patsy (Jack) Flowers and Elizabeth (Grady) Mixon, and grandchildren Anthony, Kaylee, Ethan, Lyla, RJ, and Stella. Paul’s parents, Kellis and Estelle, and brother Ronald preceded him in death. Paul grew up in Glennville, Georgia and joined the Navy after high school where he served for four years. He met and married Audrianne Larsen while in college in Utah. After several years, he moved to Bancroft, Idaho and worked with his Father-in-law for eight years, before returning to Salt Lake City. He then joined the Utah Air National Guard, in an active duty Air Force position (AGR). He retired after 22 years of service as a Senior Master Sergeant. Paul then went on to work at the Federal Aviation Administration as an Safety Inspector. He had been stationed in Frankfurt, Germany for the past five years and called this position “the best job in the world.” He loved to travel and was fortunate to have seen the world through the many years of service to his country. He was quick to smile and loved a good joke. Paul was a very proud and loving father, a devoted and supportive husband, a doting grandfather, and a very loyal friend. The visitation will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2013 from 6-8 PM at the Broomhead Funeral Home in Riverton, Utah. The funeral service will be held on Friday, April 26, at 11:00 AM at the Riverton North Stake Center, 12345 South, 2700 West, with visitation one hour prior to the services. The burial will immediately follow at Utah Veterans Memorial Park in Bluffdale. The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Paul’s FAA family in Frankfurt and to the many friends and loved ones who provided such loving care, comfort, and support during his final days. Donations may be sent in his name, in lieu of flowers, to the American Cancer Society.
