David P. Wright, Sr., (67) former Mayor of Winfield Township-Deputy County Clerk passed away peacefully on Wednesday April 17, 2013 surrounded by friends and family. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral from the Werson Funeral Home 635 North Wood Ave., Linden on Monday April 22nd at 9:15am. Funeral Mass will be at St. John the Apostle R.C. Dave was born in Jersey City, N.J. He was a lifelong resident of Winfield, N.J. He was last employed by the County of Union for 20 years retiring as the Deputy County Clerk in June 2007. Prior Dave was Superintendant of Public Works in Kenilworth for 2 years, President and owner of Wright-Away Transport in Linden for 15 years and also an Account Executive for Bruns Nordeman Brokerage in Elizabeth, N.J. for 10 years. He was an elected official of the Winfield Township Committee for 27 years serving as Mayor for the majority of his tenure. He was inducted into the N.J. State League of Municipalities Elected Officials Hall of Fame in January 2009. He was a U.S. Army Veteran during Vietnam; a member of Knights of Columbus Post #5503-Clark, N.J.; member of the American Legion Post #229-Roselle, N.J.; former director Clark Pop Warner Youth Football League; 32 year representative to the Union County Community Development Block Grant Committee, Union County Parks Advisory Board and the Union County Charter Study Commission. Dave enjoyed his community and his friends, family and spending time at Daggett Lake (N.Y. State).

David was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Lillian Wright. Surviving is his wife of 46 years Sue (Benson) Wright, three sons David P. Wright, Jr. and his wife Lisa; Jim Wright and his wife Allison; John T. Wright and his wife Christine; two sisters Judith Starega and Linda Demcher; his brother Joseph L. Wright, Jr.; his five grandchildren Taylor, P.J., Emily, Lily and Owen, many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers donations to David P. Wright, Sr., Foundation 72 Seafoam Avenue Winfield Park, N.J. 07036 in his memory would be appreciated.
