Edmund Bloch, 96, Neenah, died Sunday, April 14, 2013, at Parkview Health Center. He was born March 5, 1917, in Neenah, son of Edmund F. and Adelaide (Marquardt) Bloch. He married Athleen Atkins on December 25, 1941, at First United Methodist Church, Neenah. She preceded him in death on February 9, 2007.
Ed served in the U.S. Army during World War II, in the South Pacific, and was honorably discharged as a full Colonel. He was employed by Kimberly-Clark for 45 years in the photo lab, retiring in 1980. He also gave many years of leadership to Neenah area Boy Scouts. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church.
Ed is survived by a daughter: Janyce (Ron) Halligan, of Nisswa, MN; a son: Michael, of Neenah; also grandchildren: Shawn (Loretta) Halligan, of Ham Lake, MN, and Stacy (Jeff) Blonigen, of St. Cloud, MN; and great grandchildren: Braydon and Bailey Blonigen.
Edmund was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at the Kessler Funeral Home, 304 S. Commercial St., Neenah. Interment will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery, Neenah, where full military honors will be performed by members of the U.S. Army and the Twin Cities Veteran’s Honors Team. Visitation will be held Saturday at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for the Valley Council Boy Scouts.
