Dennis P. Hickey

Mr. Dennis P. Hickey, 58, of 1620 Palace Court Valrico, FL 33594, passed away unexpectedly Saturday April 13, 2013 hours after suffering a cerebral vascular accident at Brandon Regional Hospital in Brandon, FL in the presence of his loving wife. Dennis fought a long courageous battle with cancer prior to the CVA. He was the husband of Randee Lee (Allen) Hickey.

Dennis was born in Waterbury on November 6, 1954, son of the late Dennis F. and Veronica (McCabe) Hickey. He was raised in Waterbury and was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School. He was an EMT for 10 years before becoming a Naugatuck Police Officer. Once he retired, he pursued a career as a self-employed master carpenter. He and his beloved wife Randee moved to Texas in 1997, to Harrisburg, PA in 2000, and to Valrico, FL in 2005. He was a member of the ELKS Lodge 265 of Waterbury and Lodge 2383 of Brandon, FL. He was an avid golfer having won a number of golf tournaments with the Elks and at Buckhorn Country Club in Brandon, FL. He did a significant amount of volunteer work for the Elks Club.

Besides his wife Randee of 16 years he leaves, a brother, Matthew Hickey and his wife Kathy of Middlebury, a sister-in-law, Louise Allen Brown and her husband Joseph of Waterbury, four nieces and two nephews, Sara, Rebecca, and Joseph Brown of Waterbury, Colleen and Veronica Hickey both of Middlebury and James Colella of Waterbury.

Arrangements: Funeral Saturday 9:00 a.m. from Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home 430 Chase Parkway to the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception for a Mass at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury. Calling hours Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
