Matthew Robert Rieschl, age 54, passed away Friday, April 12, 2013 at the University of Michigan hospital in Ann Arbor. Matt was born to Robert and Rosemary (Flanagan) Rieschl on December 10, 1958 in Detroit.
He earned an associates degree in Agronomy and Turfgrass Management at Michigan State University and a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration at Ferris State University. While working as greens keeper at Crystal Lake Golf Course in Beulah, Matt cultivated his interests in agronomy. Recently he had been instrumental in introducing growers to hybrid Saskatoon berries which he was making available to local fruit farmers.
Matt is survived by: his daughter, Jacquelyn LaValley of Ellensburg, WA; sisters, Maureen Rieschl of Milan, and Marianne Fleetwood of Benzonia; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Michael.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, May 23 at 11 AM, at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Copemish.
Memorials may be made to the American Kidney Foundation or the University of Michigan Transplant Program.
