Eddy A. Zilch, age 66 years, of Shawano passed away Saturday, April 13, 2013 at ManorCare Health Services, Shawano.
Eddy Albert Zilch was born July 20, 1946 in Janesville, WI, to Ervin and Evelyn (Pomplun) Zilch. His family moved to California when he was a young man. Then Eddy lived in Washington and on November 23, 1968 he was united in marriage to Marlene K. Massey in Carnation, WA. The couple moved to Monmouth, Iowa, where they lived from 1980 to 1989. They settled in this area and over the years lived in Caroline, Gresham, and Shawano. Eddy served as a firefighter while in California, did road construction, automotive body work, worked for the railroad, and did various other odd jobs throughout his career. He was handy at fixing watches, clocks, jewelry, and electronics. Eddy’s other interests were taking care of his vegetable gardens and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Marlene, and three children: Eddy (Michelle) Zilch Jr. of Baldwin, IA, Arthur Zilch of Clintonville, and Tim (Ann) Zilch of Clintonville. There are three grandchildren: Stephen Zilch of Baldwin, IA, Alicia Zilch and Christopher Zilch, both of Clintonville. There are three sisters, Judy, Cathy, Ruth, and four brothers, Robert (Cathy), Tim (Sharon), Daniel (Alice), and Dennis. He is further survived by many other relatives and friends. Eddy is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ervin.
The family wishes to thank all the nurses with ThedaCare at Home Hospice, all the staff at ManorCare Health Services, and especially Jack, his home health care worker, for the wonderful care provided to Eddy.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 20th at 1:00 PM at the Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Clintonville. Rev. Richard Vanman will officiate and burial will be in the spring on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at 1:30 PM in Woodlawn Cemetery, Mattoon. Friends may call on Saturday from 11:00 AM until time of service at the funeral home. A luncheon will follow the service, please bring a dish to pass.
