Elmore Cole, Sr.

Mr. Elmore Cole Sr. son of the late Lassie Cole was born December 3, 1941 in Mecklenburg County, VA., and departed this life suddenly April 7, 2013 at his residence in South Hill, VA. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Helen Hargrove Cole; two brothers and one sister. At an early age he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior and joined St. John Baptist Church in Clarksville, VA. Elmore was educated in Mecklenburg County Public Schools and later moved to Arlington, VA where he worked for a construction company for many years before moving back to South Hill in 1998. Elmore leaves to cherish his memories two sons, Elmore Cole Jr. (Cynthia) of Austin TX, Jeff Cole (Monica) of Boydton, VA; one daughter, Josette Mayo (Arthur) of LaCrosse, VA; five grandchildren, Sherman Richardson, Jr., Sierra, Porche, Chanayah and Sanaa Cole; four brothers-in law, Harry Lee Tucker, Jr., Harvey Hargrove, Tommy Hargrove (Jerry) and Vernon Hargrove (Tonya); six sisters-in-law, Nell Richardson (Walter), Patricia Lewis (Junnie), Christine Pulliam, Carolyn Flemming, Charlette Morse and Diane Hargrove; devoted friends, Mildred Garland, Louise Seward, and Beatrice Baskerville; devoted cousin, Randolph Cole; his cat “Susie”, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, April 12, 2013 at Oris P. Jones Funeral Establishment, South Hill Virginia with the Rev. Bobby Stones, Officiating and Minister Sharon Baskerville, eulogizing. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery in Clarksville, VA. Viewing will be Thursday, April 11, 2013 from 12:00 noon until 5:00 pm at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Friday.
