Sheldon “Shelly” Ronald Ferdman, 65, of Jacksonville, beloved husband, father, son-in-law and friend to many went to be with the Lord on April 9, 2013 after a courageous and valiant battle with leukemia. He fought the good fight, he finished the race, he kept the faith.

Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Nancy; children, Elizabeth Tabler (Matt), Allyson Helm (Rob), Brian Ferdman, Katharine Ferdman; grandchildren, Zach and Abby Tabler, Taylor, Kendall and Dean Helm; brothers, Stuart, Wayne and Richard Ferdman and sister, Cindy Ehrhardt.
He was a graduate of The University of Florida (1970) and University of North Florida (1984). Shelly retired from Jacksonville Electric Authority after 27 years and then worked with The Energy Authority for 15 years. The last three years he worked as an energy consultant.
Shelly's family was the center of his life and source of his greatest joy. He loved being "Papa" to the grandchildren.
A celebration of Shelly's life will be held on Saturday, April 13th at 11 AM at Lakewood United Methodist Church, 6133 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, Florida. A luncheon reception will follow the service in the Christian Activity Center. The family requests that those attending the service wear cheerful colors.
In lieu of flowers, gifts in Shelly's memory may be made to Lakewood United Methodist Church or to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (lls.org).
The family would like to convey their deepest gratitude to the Mayo Clinic doctors and nurses, especially the 3N hospital team, Apheresis and the Ambulatory Infusion Center, the Blood Alliance and to all blood and platelet donors that helped to support Shelly's need for transfusions. Our sincerest thanks to all our friends who have walked this journey with us.
