James N. DiNicola

Loving Husband, Father and Grandfather

Mr. James N. “Cheech” DiNicola, 67, of 52 Sharon Road, died Sunday April 7, 2013 at St. Mary’s Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Geraldine M. “Jerri” (Ross) DiNicola.

Cheech was born in Waterbury on April 5, 1946, son of the late Nicholas and Louise (Cotta) DiNicola. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam Era with the rank of Sergeant. He worked as a meat cutter/butcher for Everybody’s Market for 35 years until they closed and then at Super K-Mart in Wallingford and retired from Pat’s IGA in Wolcott in 2008. He enjoyed frequenting the casino and playing Blackjack, but most of all he loved the time spent with his family and friends. He cherished his daughter’s dog Charlie and his grandson’s dog Milo.

Besides his wife of 45 years he leaves, two daughters, Gina M. (DiNicola) Dunn and her husband Michael and Laura (DiNicola) Lugo and her husband Adolfo “Speedy” all of Waterbury, a brother, Robert DiNicola and his wife Maureen of Wolcott, a sister, Dolores LaRosa of Oakville, a sister-in-law, Ann DiNicola of Waterbury, five grandchildren, Quintin “Q.C.” Cruz, Vanessa Polanco, Michael Dunn, Taylor Dunn, and Justin Lugo, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Richard DiNicola.

Arrangements: A Funeral Service will be celebrated Thursday, 9:30 a.m. at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway Waterbury. Burial with Military Honors will follow at New Pine Grove Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Wednesday, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
