Dorothy Irene Anderson, 73, spent her final days surrounded by family and friends. She passed away peacefully April 3, 2013. Dorothy was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Moving to California in 1951, she attended high school in Berkeley California. After high school, Dorothy worked at Oakland’s Sunshine Biscuit Company, making cookies. Dorothy married her Berkeley High School sweetheart Les Anderson in 1959. Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. In the 1970’s she completed her Home Health Aide Certificate and worked caring for the elderly. Dorothy’s home was her sanctuary. She had a great love of the Southwest and her home reflected it. She loved gardening, ceramics, crafts and cooking for her family. She had many causes that touched her heart, a few where; the St Joseph Indian School, St. Labre Indian School and Boys Town. Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Les Anderson of 45 years; parents Joe and Lucy Carrillo, and her brother Martin Carrillo. Dorothy is survived by her loving son Edward Anderson (Ellen) of Concord Ca., and Daughter Elizabeth Padilla (Mark) of Pittsburg Ca., Two grandchildren, Brandon Anderson and Alyssa Padilla. She is also survived by her brothers, Louie Carrillo, David Carrillo, Albert Carrillo, Raymond Carrillo, and Thomas Carrillo; her Sister Isabel Martinez and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Her generous loving spirit will be greatly missed by all that knew her. A vigil and memorial service will be held Friday, April, 12, 2013 at 6pm at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel. Memorial mass Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 11:00am at Church of the Good Shepherd.
