Ann Hargis, 86, Henderson, went to be with the Lord at 11:33 p.m. Saturday, April 6, 2013, at St. Anthony’s Hospice Lucy Smith King Care Center.
She was a lifelong member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. Ann raised eight children. In 1994, she retired as an aide from the Henderson County School System. She was an active volunteer until her death in numerous programs at Holy Name. Ann received the Sophia Award for volunteer of the year in 2007.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Maurice L. and Waco Mattingly Konsler; and one sister and five brothers.
Survivors include her husband of 70 years, Forwood “Buck” Hargis; two daughters, Judy Scott of Henderson and Kathy Niehaus of Evansville; six sons, Eugene Hargis and his wife, Diane, of Russellville, Kentucky, Fred Hargis and his wife, Sheila, of Henderson, Wayne Hargis and his wife, Sherri, of Henderson, Tom Hargis and his wife, Karen, of Louisville, Bob Hargis and his wife, Erna, of Henderson, and Cliff Hargis and his wife, Joanna, of Henderson; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services will be at noon Wednesday at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. Father Larry McBride and Father Richard Powers will officiate. Burial will be in St. Louis Cemetery.
Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday and until 11 a.m. Wednesday at Rudy-Rowland Home, where prayers will be said at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church or St. Anthony’s Hospice.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
