Marilyn Varney Dame

Alton, NH

Marilyn Varney Dame, age 71, of Main Street in Alton, died April 5, 2013 at Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia, after a brief illness, due to renal failure.

Born October 28, 1941 in Wolfeboro, the daughter of Arthur P. and Mildred (Proctor) Varney, she was a lifelong resident of Alton. She graduated from Alton Central School in 1959 and attended Lasell College in Newton, MA.

Marilyn was a member of the Community Church of Alton, Order of the Eastern Star and Alton Central School Building and Grounds Committee. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends on Half Moon Lake, enjoyed cruising to the Caribbean, Hawaiian Islands and the Mediterranean. She also enjoyed traveling to North Carolina to visit her daughter, son in law and grandchildren.

She met her husband of 50 years, Richard E. Dame, at the Alton Bay Pavilion, roller skating rink.

Survived by her husband Richard E. Dame and their children: Richard A. E. Dame and wife Cynthia Dame of Alton, daughter Sheryl-Lynne and husband Jan Schmidt of Mebane, NC, son Marc Varney Dame and wife Cynthia Dame of Alton, granddaughters: Brooke Dame, Chandler Schmidt and Haley Dame, grandsons: Logan Schmidt and Nicholas Dame.

The family will hold a private graveside service at a later date. Marilyn enjoyed working with children, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to CASA of NH (Court Appointed Special Advocate for Children), PO Box 1327, Manchester, NH 03105.
