Virginia Beckstrand, 87 of Paxton, died at 5:15 A.M. Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Presence (Provena) Covenant Medical Center, Urbana, Illinois. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at Baier Family Funeral Services, Paxton with Rev. Emil Blobaum officiating. Burial will be in Glen Cemetery, Paxton.

Visitation will be Monday, April 8 from 4-7 P.M. at the funeral home.

Virginia Beckstrand was born January 17, 1926 at Kewanee, IL, a daughter of Elmer H. and Laura G. Dalton Motley. She married Delbert Beckstrand on June 15, 1961 at Kewanee. He survives.

Survivors include three daughters, Nancy (Hansel) Gillis of Bloomington, Christine Lindstrom of Rantoul, Sandy Swanson of Oshkosh, WI; one grandson, Tanner Gillis, Bloomington; three granddaughters, Carly Jo Gillis, Boomington, Jennifer Lindstrom, Indianapolis, IN and Katrina DeGroot, Oshkosh; also two great-grandsons, three great granddaughters of Wisconsin and four nieces and one nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Donald Motley.

Virginia was a graduate of Wethersfield High School in 1943 and attended business college in Kewanee.

She was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Paxton and the American Legion Auxilary. She enjoyed gardening, baking, reading and most of all, spending time with her children and grandchildren.

While living in Kewanee, she worked for two car dealers as bookkeeper; in Peoria, she was a billing clerk for Montefusco Heating and Sheet Metal and in the bookkeeping department of Peoria Builders and Supply and Ready Mixed Concrete. After moving to Paxton she was employed by Ford County Abstract Company.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association of a charity of the donor’s choice.
