Born in Braymer, Missouri on November 30, 1921, Dorothy May Monger Bremmer passed away peacefully with family by her side on March, 29, 2013 at Little Company of Mary Hospice Care Unit in Torrance, CA. At 91 years of age, Dorothy enjoyed excellent health until a very recent rapid decline of one month. Dorothy was a 1939 graduate of Braymer High School. At age 18, she left Braymer to attend Central Wesleyan College in Warrenton, Missouri. It was there she met her future husband, Paul Bremmer who was seated at the same dining table for an alumnae reunion. Dorothy and Paul were married in 1942 and endured war time separation, reuniting in 1946 in Kansas City. Opportunities brought the young couple with a growing family to Danville, Virginia and eventually Gardena, California. Dorothy was a 57 year resident of Gardena and a member of Saint Anthony of Padua parish for as many years. Having received her Masters in Speech communication from California State University of Long Beach, Dorothy enjoyed teaching English as a second Language for Torrance Unified School District and spent countless hours volunteering for community and church based organizations. Extensive world travel fueled her curiosity and passion for reading and staying abreast of news and current events right up until her final days. However, her main focus throughout her life, remained her family. Above all, she was a loving daughter, wife, mother, great grandmother, aunt, niece, cousin, sister-in-law and friend. She is predeceased by her father, Walter F. Monger; mother, Effie (Phillips) Monger and husband Paul Bremmer. She leaves sons Joseph of Lomita, CA, David (Beth) of Huntington Beach, CA, William of Madison, WI, Richard (Juanita) of Brea, CA and Daughter, Diana Kuriyama of Gardena, CA. She was proudest to keep tabs on her Grandchildren and Great Granchildren throughout the world. Vanessa, Christian, Alexis, Andrea, Daniel, Geoff, Tracy, Erin, Christine, Natasha, Becky, Nicky, Addison, Luke and Kate will miss their grandmother deeply. Vigil Services will be held at St Anthony of Padua Church in Gardena on Monday April 8 at 7 pm, and the Funeral Mass to be celebrated on Tuesday April 9th at 10 am. Interment following Mass will be at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA.
