Obituary announcement Dateline: Dyersville

Alice Mae Weber, 72, of Dyersville, Iowa, passed away of pancreatic cancer peacefully on March 31, 2013 in her home surrounded by her family in Dyersville, Iowa,

In honor of Alice's wishes there will not be a visitation. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers at this time. Our hearts go out to you as well.

Funeral services for Alice will be held at St. Francis Xavier Basilica at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 4, 2013 with Rev. Noah Diehm Presiding. Lectors will be Nancy Roling and Peggy Steffen. Placing of the Pall Robert Weber, Nancy Jo Henn, Kevin Weber and Kelly Wulfekuhle. Giftbearers will be Josh Wulfekuhle, Amy Henn, and Madison Weber. Burial will be held in the Holy Cross Parish Cemetery in Holy Cross, Iowa. The family will be available to visit with following the committal services at the Dyersville Park Pavilion for those who wish to attend.

Casketbearers will be Mike Roling, Jordan Roling, Brian Roling, Jim Ludwig, Chris Nelson and .

Alice was born August 2, 1940 in Holy Cross, Iowa, daughter of Leonard and Marcella Roling. She received her education at the Holy Cross school and then went on to work at the Holy Cross School cafeteria. Alice married Robert Weber on August 29, 1961 in Holy Cross, Iowa.

They lived the last 40 plus years in the house they built on Hwy 136 outside of Dyersville. During her married life she worked at Harrison's dime store in Dyersville, Xavier school cafeteria, babysat in her home her nephews and neighbor kids, and waitressed at the Dyersville Family Restaurant.

Alice loved to play cards, bake, attend the men's Hawkeye basketball games watch the Chicago Cubs play, see Charlie Pride perform, go see shows in Branson, Missouri and spend time with her family.

She especially liked attending all of her grandkids sporting events and programs. She lived for her family and will be greatly missed. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. During Alice's final days she was able to attend two Iowa Hawkeye men's basketball games (NIT tournament). While at the first game she was interviewed by Gabe Erickson of CBS 2 and Fox 28 news. Then Jerry Strom, the mens basketball director, invited Alice and her family to attend the second home game where they took her into the locker room to honor her before the game and presented her with a signed basketball, each player gave her a hug. She also had a nice long visit with Jerry Strom, Gary Barta and Coach Fran McCaffery. She was smiling from ear to ear. She enjoyed every minute of it. A special thank you goes out to the University of Iowa men's basketball program. Alice was a long time season ticket holder and rarely missed a game until she got sick.

Alice is survived by her husband of 51 years, Robert Weber of Dyersville, I A; three children, Nancy Jo (Greg) Henn of Cedar Rapids, I A, Kevin (Amy) Weber of Darlington,WI, Kelly (Marvin) Wulfekuhle of Manchester, IA; eight grandchildren, Amy, Nicole, and Ashley Jo Henn; Madison and Hunter Weber, Josh (Jessica Ellis, fiancé), Rachel (Chris Roney, fiancé), and Nicholas Wulfekuhle; six siblings, Marvin (Gerri) Roling and Robert (Alice) Roling both of Holy CRoss, IA, James (Susie) Roling of Dubuque, IA, Gene (LouAnn) Roling, Dennis (Sue) Roling and Gary (nancy) Roling all of Dyersville, IA.

Alice is preceded in death by her parents; Leonard and Marcella Roling; Robert’s parents, Leander and Rita Weber, and her sister-in-law, Karen Weber.

Alice and her family are truly blessed to have such good friends and family, many thanks to out to all for their incredible love and support.

An Alice M. Weber memorial fund has been established in lieu of flowers.
