Thomas Jefferson "T.J." Eure, Jr., 91, of Ocala, Florida (formerly of Petal), died March 25, 2013. Services will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 30, 2013 at Moore Funeral Chapel in Petal followed by burial in Hillcrest Cemetery.
T.J. loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and shared that love with everyone he came into contact with. He and his family were members of Petal Harvey Baptist Church from 1950 until 1961. After moving to the Mississippi Coast in 1961, T.J. and his family attended First Baptist Church of Gulfport until moving to Florida in 2005 after Katrina. He was employed by Harrison County, Mississippi from 1973 to 1986 as the Financial Comptroller and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
T.J. was preceded in death by his wife, Bradis Gibson Eure; parents, Rowena Mae Mixon Eure and Thomas Jefferson Eure, Sr.; a sister, Elsie Mae Eure Cannon; and two brothers, Carl Eskridge Eure and William Franklin Eure.
He is survived by two sons, Jerry W. Mayfield of Crystal River, Florida and Thomas G. Eure (Sharon Pirkey Eure) of Lafayette, Louisiana; two daughters, Barbara O. VanderMey (James E. VanderMey) of Dunnellon, Florida and Rebecca A. Copeland ( Richard W. Copeland) of Deland, Florida; one sister, Margaret Cornelia Eure Cody; one brother, Alfred Wayne Eure; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday from 6-8:30 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home in Petal.
