Neil Patrick O’Brien, 69, of Anderson, passed away March 24, 2013 at his residence.
He was born December 13, 1943 in Anderson and lived in Anderson all of his life. He graduated from Anderson High School in 1962 and from General Motors Institute in 1967. He retired in 1998 from Delco Remy after 31 years.
Neil was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and Middletown Church of the Nazarene. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, boating and his lake property.
He is survived by his wife, Judith O’Brien of Anderson; daughter, Trena (husband, Dr. Dan) Gelfman of Fishers; son, Dr. Kent (wife, Wendy) O’Brien of Vonore, TN; grandson, Keith O’Brien of Anderson; granddaughter, Jill Burns of Fishers; brother, Dr. David (wife, Brenda) O’Brien of Columbus; sister, Diane Cram of Anderson; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Rachael Englund of Fenton, MI, Steven (wife, Amy) Englund of Fenton, MI and Jennifer (husband, Warren) Jarvis of Simi Valley, CA; several nieces and nephews; and his special companion, “His Dog Ty”.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Margaret O’Brien; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Julius and Florence Englund; and brothers-in-law, Richard Englund, David Englund and Stephen Cram.
Services will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. Thursday at Middletown Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Phil Rogers officiating. Burial will be at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Middletown Church of the Nazarene or the donor's favorite charity.
