Funeral services for Kathryn Gay Brunson, 80, of Reynolds, will be held on Thursday at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church, Reynolds, GA. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. Mrs. Brunson passed away on Monday, March 18, 2013 at the Medical Center of Central Georgia. She was born and reared in Quitman County, Georgia. Mrs. Brunson attended school in Morris, Georgetown and Cuthbert, Georgia, and Andrew College in Cuthbert. She began her work career in 1949 as secretary to the then assistant road design engineer in the Department of Transportation in Atlanta. In the early 1950’s she transferred to work as a secretary in the office of the then Governor Herman E. Talmadge, going on to Washington with him when he was elected to the United States Senate in 1956. She was a member of his staff for seven years. She returned to Georgia at the time of marriage to Robert Brunson, Reynolds, Georgia, in July 1963. In 1964 she became associated with Flint Electric Membership Corporation and remained there for a period of 34 years, retiring in March of 1998. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Reynolds.
She was predeceased in death by her late husband Bob but is survived by son, Alan (Cyndi), grandson Connor, other relatives and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday beginning at 1:00 until the funeral hour at the First Baptist Church, Reynolds.
