Lifetime Alamosa resident Donald “Donny” G. Clayton, 53, died March 14, 2013 in Cusco, Peru.
Donny was born on November 23, 1959 in Alamosa to Billy and Alma Kingsley Clayton.
He owned and operated Motor Parts Inc. for many years. Donny started with the Alamosa Volunteer Fire Department on September 6, 1981 and became Fire Chief on November 1, 2001. He served as Chief until his retirement on November 30, 2005.
Donny enjoyed the outdoors and especially riding motorcycles, skiing, riding four-wheelers and hiking. He most enjoyed spending time with his children and supporting them in all their endeavors. In his younger years he served as Scoutmaster for Troop 307 in Alamosa. Donny also had a good sense of humor.
He is survived by his mother Alma Clayton of Alamosa; his children Christen (Luke) Smith of Denver, Casey (Michelle) Clayton of Chile, and Scott Clayton of Alamosa; his brother Ronald (Susan) Clayton of Reno, NV; his grandchildren Stella, Ethan and Paloma Smith, and Elise Clayton; his nieces and nephew Bethany Gleason, Will Clayton and Meredith Clayton.
His father Billy Clayton preceded him in death in 2004.
Cremation was chosen and a Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 22, 2013 at the Alamosa Presbyterian Church.
