Graveside services for William Louis Bissantz will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 18, 2013, at Memorial Hill Cemetery with Rev. David Shaw officiating. Interment is under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Waynoka.
William Louis Bissantz, son of the late Roy William and Maude Rose (Hudson) Bissantz, was born August 19, 1923, at Sun City, Kansas, and passed away March 15, 2013, at Alva, Oklahoma, at the age of 89 years, 6 months, and 26 days.
Louis graduated from Sun City High School with the Class of 1942 and attended Kansas State University. He then entered the United States Army where he served in Normandy, Rhineland, Ardennes, and northern France where he earned the Silver Star, the Bronze Star, and the Purple Heart for a shrapnel wound.
After the war, he returned to Sun City where he managed the family grocery store until 1978. On August 2, 1964, he was united in marriage to Alberta Mae Nutter at Waynoka. In 1978, they moved to Waynoka and he worked for Woods County District 3.
He was a member of the Waynoka First Baptist Church and I.O.O.F.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Dean Bissantz.
Louis is survived by his wife, Alberta, of Alva; one brother, George Bissantz and wife, LaVon, of Wichita; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
