U.S. Veteran

Preston Allen Johnson, Sr., 81, Henderson, died at 11:20 a.m. Thursday, March 14, 2013, at Methodist Hospital.

He was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. Preston was retired from Gibbs Die Casting. He was a Korean War U.S. Army veteran.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney Allen and Margaret Elizabeth Denton Johnson; one grandson, Patrick Neil Hite; and his son-in-law, Allan R. VanMeter.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Suzanne Overfield Johnson; one daughter, Pennye Johnson VanMeter of Evansville; two sons, Preston Allen Johnson, Jr., and his wife, Jenny, of Evansville and Stephen Johnson and his wife, Becky, of Henderson; one brother, David E. Johnson and his wife, Corine, of Henderson; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. Father Larry McBride will officiate. Burial will be in St. Louis Cemetery with full military rites performed by American Legion Worsham Post No. 40.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and until 10 a.m. Saturday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home where prayers will be said at 6 p.m. Friday.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church or St. Anthony’s Hospice.

Pallbearers will be Preston Allen Johnson, Jr., Stephen Johnson, Ryan Johnson, Timothy Johnson, Scott Johnson, Don Winn, Ray Clanan, and David Farmer.
