Marcus E. Ector Jr., 87, during a peaceful sleep entered into rest (the kind only the loving Savior can give) on March 9, 2013 at Blythe Nursing Care Center; after enduing a lengthy illness. He was born on Nov. 25, 1925 at Palo Verde Hospital in Blythe to Marcus E. Ector Sr. and Pearlie Mae McIntosh Ector. He was the third of five children.
In 1951, he married Ella Mae Caver. To this union, they were blessed with four children: Cynthia Ann, Marcus Irvin, Casey and Marcelett Ector.
He was inducted into the United States Army on Oct. 15, 1952 and was honorably discharged from active duty on Oct. 14, 1954.
Marcus worked in many occupations. He loved fishing, hunting and gardening. He was known for having the best greens in town and would share them with the neighborhood. He was a member of Palo Verde Lodge #37, and in his spare time he was a reservist for the Blythe Police Department.
Marcus enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and little Neiko (family poodle).
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ella Mae Ector; five children, Lonald Ector of Denver, Colo.; Cynthia Ann Ector of Eastvale, Calif.; Marcus Irvin Ector (Dionisia) of Hopkins, S.C.; Casey Ector of Blythe, and Marcelett Ector of Stanford, Conn.; nine grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren; one aunt, Bernie Mack, six godchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Services will be held on March 16, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Frye Chapel. Food for family and out of town guests will be held at Butler Hall, 141 S. 2nd St., Blythe.
