Jettrice Elizabeth Barnes

Homegoing Celebration for Jettrice Elizabeth Barnes, who departed this earthly life to answer the call of her Heavenly Father on Monday, March 11, 2013 will be held Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Progress Village, 8722 Progress Blvd., Tampa, FL, with Pastor-Teacher, Dr. Sam Maxwell, officiating. Interment will follow in Hillsboro Memorial Gardens Cemetery 2323 W. Brandon Blvd. Brandon, FL.

Jettrice Elizabeth Barnes was born September 18, 1984 in Hampton, Virginia, the youngest of four children to Jimmie Lee and Sarah Jacqueline Barnes.

Jettrice attended Hickam Elementary in Honolulu, Hawaii. She also attended the public schools of Hillsborough County, FL, graduating from Riverview High School. She received her Bachelors Degree from the University of Florida and her MBA from Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Jettrice participated in “Teach for America” at William F. Harrity Public School and had the opportunity to teach English in Uijeongou Gyeongga, South Korea. Jettrice accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age and was baptized in 1990 at First Baptist Church of Progress Village. She was very active and dedicated member of First Baptist where she served in ministry with Youth Discovery, Youth Choir, Evangelism Explosion, Young Adult Sunday School and was a Youth worker at The Construction Zone Student Ministry. Exercising one of her many gifts Jettrice won the Oratorical Contest representing the Youth Department at First Baptist.

Jettrice leaves to cherish loving memories of her with parents: Jimmie Lee and Sarah Jacqueline Barnes; Brothers: Marqus James Barnes and Michael Jerome Barnes; Sister: Sharonda Nicole Barnes; Grandmother: Elizabeth Brinkley Smith; Nephew: Caire Jaylen; Niece: Raniyah Sarah; Godparents: Bobby and Peggy Locust; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, The “First Family” her church family (The First Baptist Church of Progress Village), faculty, staff and students of Burns Middle School, and other sorrowing relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends Friday March 15, 2013 6:00PM - 8:00PM at the First Baptist Church of Progress Village, 8722 Progress Blvd., Tampa, FL.
