A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at noon, at the Shuler-Marshall Funeral Home Chapel, with the Reverend Willie Bryant, officiating. Burial will follow in the Felder Cemetery.
Mrs. Neivory Jamison Reaves was born on September 8, 1939, in Holly Hill, South Carolina to the late Alma (Mookie) Jamison. She departed this earthly life on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at her residence in Vance, South Carolina.
At an early age, she became a member of the Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Vance, South Carolina. She was an active member of the Pastor's Aide ministry.
Neivory later moved to White Plains, New York where she met and married Mr. Curtis Reaves and lived out her life dreams. She was a private caretaker for Nelson Rockerfellar, her beloved Helen Halliwell and Marion C. LeVake.
Neivory was a lifetime member of the NAACP. She received the highest honor: The Golden Heritage Award (the highest award received by anyone.) She was also a past president of the local NAACP chapter. She was honored with a special appreciation award from the NAACP "Show of Shows," New York Hilton Hotel. Mrs Reaves received appreciation, dedication and cooperation, a living memorial to the goals and dreams of the late Mamie Haynes.
During Neivory's time in New York, she was a member of the Union Baptist Church. Neivory was a fundamental person of her community, her family and anyone that was privileged to know her.
Neivory was a longtime Council Member for the Town of Vance.
Neivory leaves to cherish fond memories: two sisters, Mrs. Annie L. Stoutamire, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina and Mrs. Earnestine (Frank) Bryant, of Vance, South Carolina; two brothers: Mr. Israel Jamison, of Vance, South Carolina and Mr. Harold (Debra) Jamison, of Orangeburg, South Carolina and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
