James Paul Childs

Gunnison, Utah - Our beloved husband, father, son and brother, James Paul Childs, age 32, was tragically taken from us on Friday, March 1, 2013 in an avalanche, doing what he loved doing, snowmobiling with his Dad and brothers in Long Valley.

He was born July 14, 1980 in Gunnison, Utah, a son of Paul Newel and Carolyn Burke Childs. He graduated from Gunnison Valley High School, Class of 1998. He attended and graduated from Snow College in 1999 and then recieved his Bachelors Degree from BYU.

James married Cheyenne Jane Adams, March 29, 2002 in the Manti LDS Temple.

He enjoyed spending time with his kids, hunting, snowmobiling, four-wheeling, basketball and baseball. He was an active member of the LDS Church. He served a full time mission in Argentina from 1999 to 2001.

He is survived by his wife and children: Cheyenne Childs, Talon Childs, Landon Childs, Camden Childs and Navy Childs, all of Pleasant Grove; his parents: Paul and Carolyn Childs of Gunnison; four sisters: Rachel and Mark Seegmiller of Cedar Hills; Jessica and Jeremy Cowart of Pleasant Grove; Nicole and Parker Poulson of Cedar City; and Hannah Childs of Gunnison; his grandparents: Jay and Janet Childs of Gunnison; and Carol Burke of Las Vegas, Nevada; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Bill Burke.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 7, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. In the Gunnison LDS Stake Center, 98 West Center in Gunnison, where friends may call for viewing Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 P.M or Thursday morning from 9:00 to 10:30 prior to the services.

Burial will be in the Gunnison City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.

In lieu of flowers a fund to help his children, has been set up at any Zions Bank in the name of James Paul Childs.
