Sue Byrd Avery

Funeral Services for Sue Byrd Avery, age 95, will be Saturday, March 2, 2013 2:00, at the chapel of Ronk Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Salam Cemetery in Gadsden, TN. Sue passed away peacefully in her sleep, Wednesday 27, 2013 at Maplewood Health Care Center in Jackson, TN. She was born in Crockett County, TN October 3, 1917, the 6th of 7 children to Mary Agnes and Ossie Freeman Byrd. She was preceded in death by her parents and all her siblings Rollie, Freddy, Chesley, Clyde, Ivie & Jim. "Mama Sue" as she was known by many is survived by two children, Louva Lee Avery and Danny Joe Avery; five grandchildren, Renee Bohon (Bo), Joe Avery (Edrice), George Avery (Brianna), Chad Avery (Lisa) & Jennifer Knolton (Tom); ten great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren. She worked many years as a nursing home administrator and before becoming too ill, was an active member and volunteer at Lambuth Memorial United Methodist Church. As a devout Christian, she spent tireless hours doing for others. She cherished being surrounded by her family and friends. Ministers for the service will be Bill Evans and Brent McMinn. Pallbearers for the service will be Tommy Knolton, Shane Bohon, Josh Avery, Michael Avery, Austin Avery and Ross Hopper. Visitation for Mrs. Avery will be held Friday, March 1, 2013 4-7 pm at Ronk Funeral Home.
