Donald D. Bowden, 79, of Adamsville, Ohio died Tuesday morning February 26, 2013 at Genesis Morrison House in Zanesville, Ohio. Born January 5, 1934 in Zanesville he was the son of the late Harley and Mamie (Johns) Bowden and was a graduate of Adamsville High School. Mr. Bowden was a farmer and he retired in 1986 after 32 years of service with Ohio Bell-AT &T where he was a special services technician. He was a member of Hubbard Lodge #220, F. & A. M. and the Telephone Pioneers of America. Along with farming he enjoyed NASCAR and attended the Daytona 500 on many occasions. Surviving are two sons, Jeffery (Thelma) Bowden and Fritz Bowden both of Adamsville; two daughters, Eva Bowden of Adamsville and Lucy (Kenneth) Lighthizer of Zanesville; four grandchildren, Brian (Nicci) Lowther, Emily (Marc) Adams, Jereme (Heather) Bowden and Kelse Lighthizer; five great grandchildren; a brother, Elmer Bowden of South Dakota and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Ellen (Sherrick) Bowden whom he married April 13, 1953 and who died October 31, 2006 and two sisters, Helen Seckman and Eva Galigher. There will be no calling hours. Memorial services will be conducted at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Genesis Hospice, 713 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, Ohio 43701.
