Bennie H. Cook Sr., 75, departed this life on Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at Mary Washington Hospital.
Bennie was well known as "Va. Blackbird" and was a highly respected truck driver for 40-plus years. He also worked maintenance for the Spotsylvania County School System. Bennie Cook was a Christian man who left an impact on everyone he met.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Norma L. Cook; his son, Bennie H. Cook Jr.; daughters Chantay Cook and Zina Garnett; one son-in-law, Marlowe Garnett; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held from 5 to 8 p.m, Monday, March 4, with a Christian wake from 7 to 8 p.m. at A.L. Bennett and Son Funeral Home.
A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. with the homegoing service at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at Mount Zion Baptist Church, 6030 Harrison Road, Spotsylvania, with the Rev. Charles Wormley officiating.
