Funeral services for George Harold Bettis, age 77, will be held Friday March 1st at two o’ clock in the afternoon at South Fork Baptist Church in Friendship, TN. Burial will follow at Halls Cemetery in Halls, TN. Ronk Funeral Home is in charge of the services. After a long battle with cancer, Harold, surrounded by family and friends, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 24th, 2013 at the Crockett County Nursing Home. Harold was a member of South Fork Baptist Church, a veteran, and member of the Masonic Lodge for over fifty years. He retired from American Air Lines after 38 years. After his retirement, he was employed with Andrew Bettis Aviation located in Memphis, TN until his health declined. Visitation for Mr. Bettis will be held Thursday, February 28th from 5 until 8p.m. at Ronk Funeral Home and Friday March 1st at South Fork Baptist Church from 12 until time of service at 2:00. ... Mr. Bettis was preceded in death by his parents Larry and Lera Espey Bettis. Harold is survived by his son Andrew Bettis, Memphis TN, two sisters Carolyn Johnson (Jim) of Jackson, TN., Norma Conley (C.H.) of Alamo, TN., and a step-son Steve Austin (Pam) of Jackson, TN. Harold also leaves three nephews: Dr. Mike Camp (Kellie) of Mountain Home, Arkansas, David Camp (Laura) of Jackson, TN., Rodney Conley (Sandy) of Alamo, TN., and three nieces: Karen Conley-Hopper (Keith), Donna Camp-Conley, and Hanslette Conley all of Alamo, TN; ten great-nephews, three great-nieces, and one great great-niece. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to South Fork Baptist Church, 7451 Chestnut Bluff-Maury City Road, Friendship, TN 38034, Evangel Baptist Church, 262 North Perkins St. Memphis, TN 38117, The American Cancer Society, or to the charity of your choice.
