Michael A. Krull, of East Side Borough, White Haven, died Monday afternoon, February 25, 2013 in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township, with his loving wife, Kay, by his side.
Michael was born and raised in White Haven and was the son of the late Joseph and Anna Lemich Krull, was a graduate of St. Anne's High School in Freeland and a former member of St. Patrick's Church, White Haven. In May 1964, Commander Krull enlisted in the U. S. Air Force, where he was first stationed in the 4453rd Combat Crew Training Wing in Tucson, Arizona. In November 1966, he was assigned to the 11th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron in Vietnam where he earned the Vietnam Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Presidential Unit Citation with two bronze oak leaf clusters and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal and worked on the F4 Phanthom as a Crew Chief. He joined the VFW in 1970 and became a charter member in Post #6615, White Haven, where he held every elected office in his post. He served as Commander of his post for two years as well as Service Officer continuously from 1992 to 2011 and held all the chairs on the district level before moving to district #11 commander in 1980. He was also recognized several times as All State Quartermaster for the Dept of Pa VFW.
In addition to serving as Adjutant and long-term Quartermaster in his own post, he was a member of the American Legion Post #592, Amvets Post #253 and was a certified lifetime member of the Veterans of the Vietnam War. He retired in December, 2009 from the Tobyhanna Army Depot and prior to that, he was employed by EMCEE (Electronics, Missiles & Communications, Inc.) in White Haven for 30 plus years.
Michael was preceded in death by brother, Joseph Krull, Jr; infant sister, Mary and infant brother, George.
He is survived by his loving wife, the former Kay Brown; sister Carol Avillion, and her husband, James, of Freeland and Aunt Magdalene Evancho of White Haven and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial service, with Full Military Honors, will be held Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 12:00 noon at the Lehman Family Funeral Service, Inc. 403 Berwick Street White Haven. Reverend John McHale, of St. Patrick's Church, White Haven, will officiate.
Friends may call from 10 am till noon to pay their respects.
Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, White Haven.
