James G. Driggs, age 91 of Stewart, died Saturday Feb. 16, 2013 at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital, Athens.
Born July 16, 1921 in Broadwell, he was the son of the late Blaine & Ethel McDonald Driggs.
He attended Rome-Canaan High School. He participated in the Civilian Conservation Corps, working in Nevada. He owned and operated Driggs Painting & Contracting Co., specializing in remodeling and interior decorating, in Cincinnati.
James served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European - African- Middle Eastern Campaign medal with 1 Bronze Star and the World War II Victory Medal
James is survived by his daughter, Darlene Hoffman of Richwood, Kentucky; his son, James L. (Brenda) Driggs of Stewart; five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife in 2007, whom he married in 1941, Virginia McCann Driggs; a son in law, Ray Hoffman; three sisters and eleven brothers.
Burial has taken place on Wed., Feb. 20th in Mt. Hermon Cemetery, Bern Township. Arrangements are with Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens.
