Dateline: Cascade

Marian K. Schommer, 98, Of Bonne Terre, Missouri and formerly of Cascade, Iowa, died Saturday, February 16, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Manor in Bonne Terre, MO.

Friends and relatives of Marian may call from 9 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., Monday, February 25, 2013 at the Reiff Funeral Home in Cascade, Iowa.

Services for Marian will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 25, 2013 at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Cascade, Iowa, with Rev. Douglas Loecke officiating. Placing of the pall will be done by Patrick Schommer, Carol Seitz, Janet Vary, Nancy Trygg, Joan Gerard and Susan Rouggly. Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery in Cascade, Iowa.

Casketbearers for Marian will be Richard Murray, Michael Trygg, Jimmie Rouggly, Jacob Schommer, Terry Seitz, David Seitz, Peter Seitz, and Steven Seitz.

Marion was born on October 22, 1914 in Winona, Minnesota, daughter of Edward C. and Kathryn (Engler) Lynch. She received her education in the Winona, Minnesota schools. On June 24, 1939 in Winona, MN she was united in marriage to Joseph L. Schommer. He preceded her in death on July 24, 1998. She was a member of St. Matthias Parish in Cascade, Iowa. She was a former secretary of the Cascade Senior Citizen’s.

She is survived by one son, Patrick (Debbie) Schommer of St. Louis, MO; five daughters, Carol (Arnold) Seitz of Dubuque, IA, Janet (Mike) Vary of Swanton, OH, Nancy (Jim) Trygg of Grand Forks, ND, Joan (Mike) Gerard of St. Louis, MO, and Susan (Jim) Rouggly of Bonne Terre, MO; 17 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Judy Schommer; and two sisters, Betty Klingler and Margaret Kuklinski; and one brother, Patrick Lynch.
