After a short illness, Virginia passed away on February 6th at her home in Alameda, CA. Virginia was the daughter of the late Florinda “Flo” and Chester “Chet” Bartalini, and the sister of the late Dorothy B. Shafer (Warren). She started her secretarial career while still in school at Alameda High in the principal’s office. Then on to Kaiser Aluminum in Oakland. The travel bug took her to the Territory of Hawaii, and even after returning to the Mainland, it became her second home. She ended her secretarial career with Teamsters Local 70. Virginia was a humble woman of strong character, with a deep love and compassion for others. She is survived by her siblings: Irene B. Jennings (Kahle); Dolores Bartalini, Chester Richard Bartalini (Anne); Beverly B. Buhnerkempe (Bob); all of Alameda, CA. Nieces and nephews: Kahle Jennings of Washington; Kerry J. Larkin (Reginald) of Texas; Janine B. Shafer of Alameda; Robert Bartalini, Alameda; Lee Epstein (Andre), Pittsburg, CA.; Lori Dana Chester (James), Texas. Also many great nieces and nephews. Memorial service to be held at 11 AM. Saturday February 23, 2013, at the Twin Towers United Methodist Church, 1411 Oak Street, Alameda, CA. Reception to follow in the Fireside Room at the Church.
