Edgar Eugene Moore, age 80, of Shelbina, MO, passed away on Friday, January 11, 2013, at his residence in Shelbina.
He was born June 25, 1932 in Holt Summit, MO, the son of Benjamin Franklin and Trixie Rosalea Hafey Moore. On October 24, 1953 he was united in marriage to Juanita Hiatte. She survives.
In addition to his wife, Edgar is survived by eight children: Danny Moore of Macon, Greg Moore of Shelbina, Phillip Moore and wife Mitzi of Jefferson City, Tim Moore of Shelbina, Michaele Moore, of Shelbina, Melanie Vannoy and husband Steve of Shelbyville, Marilyn Porter and husband Michael of Columbia and Andrea Kunce and husband Brad of Shelbina, MO; nineteen grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and five sisters, one daughter Donna Gayle Moore, one granddaughter, Kirsten Porter, and one great-granddaughter Wren Harvey.
Edgar was a graduate of New Bloomfield High School in 1949 and served his country in the United States Navy from 1949 to 1953. He graduated from University of Missouri in Columbia, MO and then received his Specialist Degree in Administration from Truman State University in Kirksville, MO. He taught agriculture at Fulton and Silex High Schools. He moved to Shelbina in 1961 and taught Agriculture at Shelbina High School. He was the first Principal when South Shelby opened their doors in 1965. He retired from South Shelby as Superintendent of Schools in 1987. He was a member of the Shelbina Baptist Church. He taught the Kum-Dubl Sunday School class, served as a deacon and was a member of the Gideon’s International. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, bird watching, traveling and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Shelbina Baptist Church at 10:30 am on Monday, January 14, 2013 with burial to follow at Shelbina Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina, MO from 3:00 to 7:00 pm on Sunday, January 13, 2013. Memorial may be made to the Edgar Moore Scholarship Fund.
